Privacy Policy


MARTEE is an application that helps you organize your trips, explore new activities, interact with other users, share your experience and learn from travellers just like you. It's simple.

We know that confidentiality is essential when you share information on Martee. That's why we have integrated features that give you clarity and control over what you share. 

Therefore, we have written this privacy policy to inform you about what we do in complete transparency. This policy applies to your use of Martee  and/or other services that TS & Com SAS (Martee) may offer (the Services).

1. Important information
First of all, we would like to draw your attention to several important pieces of information:
  • When you use our services, you share information with Martee. Martee is responsible for the processing of your data;
  • To create an account, you only need to provide us with your phone number and email address or, if you prefer, your Google or Facebook login details. We will use this information to authenticate your account and communicate with you if needed. For example when you forget your password.
  • To provide you with our services, we may transfer your information to third parties. You will find more information about this subject in the section "How we share information".
  • We may also ask for your first or last name, date of birth or other information to offer you a personalized experience. You can always refuse to provide such information.
  • If you have any questions about our privacy policy or wish to access, revise or delete your data, you can send us an email at contact@martee.app any time. For more information, you can consult the section "your rights".

    Do not hesitate to visit the CNIL website (www.cnil.fr) for further explanations on personal data. You can also contact the CNIL if you think there is a breach in protecting your data and want to make a complaint. If you do not live in France, you can contact your country's central data protection authority.
  • We have put data retention and deletion policy in place, specifying how long your information will be kept. In general, we retain the information we collect as long as you actively use the application and then for as long as necessary to protect our rights. You can always give us information on what you would like us to do with your data (deletion or retention) in case of decease. 
  • Remember that you have the right to delete your account and/or the content you have shared at any time.
  • When you use our services, you share information with Martee. Martee is responsible for the processing of your data;

2. The legal basis on which we process your data: Consent
We collect and use the data in our possession in the manner described below:
  • to the extent necessary to comply with our terms of use;
  • in accordance with your consent, which you may revoke at any time by sending an e-mail to contact@martee.app;
  • to the extent necessary to fulfil our legal obligations;
  • to protect your vital interests or those of others;
  • to the extent necessary for the public interest;
  • to the extent necessary for our legitimate interests (or those of others), including our interest in providing an innovative, personalized, secure and relevant service to our users and partners, unless your interests or your fundamental rights and freedom requiring the protection of your personal data outweigh these interests.
3. The information we collect
      a. The information you provide us
When you use our services, we collect the information you choose to provide.

      i . Registration
When you register in Martee, we may need to ask you for : 
  • your email address or your Facebook or Google login and;
  • your telephone number;
Once you have registered, you can personalize your profile so that you can be easily identified by telling us:
  • your date of birth;
  • your location;
  • your sex, as you wish to define it.
      ii . Profile picture
If you wish, you can add one or more pictures to your profile to make it your own. This will allow your friends and family to easily find you on the application. You can change your photo at any time. However, it is strictly forbidden to use someone else’s photo without their written consent (with proof of identity).

      iii . Location and geolocation
If you give us permission, we can collect your precise geolocation (latitude and longitude) by various means, depending on the service and device you use, including GPS, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection.

We may collect your location information in the background, even when you are not using Martee, only if the authorization you have given us expressly allows it. If you decide not to give us permission to collect your location, we will not collect it. However, remember that this may limit the possibilities we wish to offer you through Martee.

You can also inform us of your place of residence or different places you intend to visit. Be careful, Martee is just like real life; behave as you would outside the application. We strongly advise you not to publish precise information about your travel destination in advance or in real-time to people you don't know.
      iv . Photo gallery
You can share photos of your travels and encounters on the application. This way you can share your experience and help others get the most out of the app! 

Don't forget that these photos will be visible to other users you don’t necessarily know if your profile is public. By default, your profile is public. You can change this whenever you want and as many times as you want from the application's settings.

If you have set your profile as private your photos will only be visible to your followers. You can modify, add or delete your posts at any time in your profile. Once again, it is forbidden to use the photo(s) of someone without their written consent (with proof of identity).
      v . Communications
You may also provide us with information when you send messages through our services, such as messages you send to the community or our support team at contact@martee.app.
      b. Information we may obtain when you use Martee
When you use our Services, we collect information about how you use them to constantly improve your experience with Martee. You can see some examples below:
  • Usage information
    We collect information about your activity on Martee. For example: when and how you use the application, the contents you interact with or like more than others.We also collect information about how you communicate with other users: their usernames, their contents, the times and dates of your exchanges, the number of messages you send, the time you open your messages, etc.This information allows us to understand what you like to use, how you prefer to do it and also what we need to correct or improve!
  • Information about your phone
    We collect a range of information specific to your phone: phone name, phone model, operating system version, your phone's advertising ID, Application ID only, Unique Device ID, phone language. This allows us, among other things, to correct bugs, improve the accuracy of your location or ensure your security, for example. 
      c. Your rights
It is important for us to allow you to access and modify most of the information we keep about you. This is mainly done via the profile section of the application. If you need to access, correct or delete any of the personal information we have about you, you can contact us at contact@martee.app.

More specifically, you have the right to access, rectify, delete, transfer, oppose or limit the use of your personal data as well as a right to portability which you can exercise any time by writing to us at contact@martee.app. If you wish to exercise any of these rights, we may ask you to verify your identity and request before proceeding. 

Although we do our best to help you, there may be limits to the requests we can satisfy. We may refuse a request for several reasons, including when the request may threaten other users' privacy, requires a disproportionate technical effort, or is repetitive or illegal. Since privacy is important to us, we may ask you to confirm your identity or provide additional information before granting access to your data or updating them.
  • Right of access, availability and portability
    You have the right to request certain copies of your personal information kept by us. In some cases, you may also be entitled to request copies of your personal information in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format and/or ask us to pass this information on to another service provider (where technically possible).
  • Right of rectification
    You have the right to ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information about you (that you cannot update on the app).
  • Right of deletion
    In general, we retain your personal information as long as necessary to execute our agreement with you, comply with our legal obligations and the extent permitted by applicable law up to 5 years after deleting your account.You have the right to ask us to delete your personal information, subject to certain limitations: 
    - We may retain personal information necessary for our legitimate business interests, such as detecting and preventing fraud and improving security. 
    - For example, suppose we suspend a Martee account for fraud or security reasons. In that case, we may retain certain information regarding the account to prevent the concerned user from opening a new account in the future.
    - Information that you have shared with other people (for example messages you have sent) may continue to be contained on the app after deleting your account. But if you are no longer there, this information is no longer attributed to you.
    - Copies of your information will remain in our database once it has been anonymized.
  • Withdrawal of consent
    You can always withdraw your consent for us to processyour data. Simply delete your account or inform us by sending an e-mail to contact@martee.app. 
  • Objection to processing
    You always have the right to object to the processing of your personal data for reasons specific to your situation in case this information is processed for direct marketing purposes or for a purpose based on a legitimate or public interest. If you wish to object to the processing on the basis of a legitimate or public interest, we will no longer process your personal information for these purposes unless we can demonstrate serious and legitimate reasons for such processing or unless such processing is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims.

    If your personal information is processed for direct marketing purposes, you may at any time request Martee to stop processing your data for such purpose by sending an e-mail to contact@martee.app. 
  • Complaints
    You may make a complaint regarding our data processing operations with us using the contact details provided in the "Contact" section below, or with a supervisory authority, namely your local supervisory authority or our main supervisory authority, the CNIL.If you have any questions, you can contact us and/or consult the CNIL website (www.cnil.fr).
      d. How we use your information
Above all, our aim is to offer you the best possible service and content that suits your interests better. We also want to put you in touch with users that you wish to follow or contact.In particular, we can use your information to:
  • develop, operate, improve, update and secure our services;
  • communicate with you, including by e-mail. For example, we may respond to requests, or send you information about offers and promotional services that we think may be of interest to you;
  • create statistical studies, monitor and analyze usage trends. (Example: 3% of users open this type of content). We perform statistical calculations in an aggregate and anonymous manner. We will never disclose your identity ;
  • segment registered users: identifying groups of users (countries, users of different types of telephone, operating systems, ways of using the application, etc.) is one of the studies that Martee can carry out globally.

    When your data has been anonymized, this enables us to identify: the brands that come up most often for a given product (which brand is best known for this product?), the products that come up most often for a given brand (which product of this brand is best known?), the questions and expectations most often formulated about a need (the most searched types of accommodation, preferred modes of catering, used transport, etc.), a brand or a product. These studies are likely to be used as part of our partners' advertising campaigns to present the community with answers to the most frequently asked questions about our partners' offers. The idea is to ensure that these advertisements are engaging, relevant and therefore based on your expectations and needs;
  • personalize the Services or profile information, or present you with your publications, travels or search history;
  • present you with personalized content and people you might want to follow, or recommend relevant actions in the application, depending on the collected information (trips you have organized or participated in, people you follow, places or other information mentioned in this document);
  • present you with content, advertisements and products, whether targeted or not, sponsored by partners, and improve our targeted advertisements;
  • enhance the security of our products and services, for example by detecting and preventing unsolicited and excessive requests and follow-up messages (we want to avoid spam as much as possible);
  • send you notifications. If you do not wish to receive them, you can simply disable them in your phone settings;
  • verify your identity and detect fraud or any other unauthorized or illegal activity;
  • enforce our Terms & Conditions and other Martee policies;
  • store information locally on your device, so that you can open the application and consult its contents as quickly as possible.
      e. How we share information
We may share information about you as described below:

- We may first share certain information with other Martee users. In particular, we may share the following data:
  • Information about you such as your name, the number and the list of your following and followers, your profile picture, the pictures or posts you share, the posts or pictures you like or the comments you leave on a post;
  • information about the way you use Martee, such as the day you registered or the messages you sent;
  • any other information you have agreed to share.
- With third parties for legal reasons
  • we may disclose information about you if such disclosure is required to comply with a request from a judicial, arbitral or administrative authority or to comply with laws and regulations and our contractual obligations;
  • we may also disclose your information to third parties to investigate, resolve or impose sanctions for violations of our Terms and Conditions;
  • we may also disclose such information to protect our rights, property and safety or the safety of users or others;
  • finally, it may be necessary to transmit the information to detect and correct fraud and security issues.
- With other third parties
We may also share aggregated, non-personally identifiable and anonymous information. We may do so, for example, with third parties concerned with a merger or acquisition.
If TS & Com SAS is involved in a merger, a sale of assets, shares or interests, financing, liquidation or bankruptcy, or the acquisition of all or part of the business of another company, we may share your information with that company, either before or after the transaction is completed.

Remember that any user can take screenshots of the application and share information about their interactions with you on Martee.
- How we store your information
We retain your information as long as you use our Services and then only as long as necessary to meet our legal obligations.

In general, we store the information we collect as long as you use Martee. After that, we keep it for 5 years from the closure of your account. In addition, if you do not use the application for 12 consecutive months, we will delete your account and start the 5-year period. All your data is stored in France on secure premises. All our partners guarantee the total security of our servers to protect your data.

Also, we aggregate and anonymize information for specific purposes, such as data analysis. Once we anonymize the data, we retain it indefinitely. The following data is kept as long as you use Martee and up to 5 years after the closure of your account:
  • your user name, first name and surname ;
  • your date of birth, age and your profile picture;
  • your gender;
  • your follow requests;
  • your chats/conversations;
  • your residence and location;
  • information about your telephone and use of Martee.
If you wish, you can delete your account at any time and ask for your data to be deleted. The next section, "Controlling your information”, gives you more information on deleting your account.
4. Controlling your information
It is important to us that you keep control of your information! 
As mentioned above, you have a right to access your data and much more (deletion, opposition, digital inheritance, etc.). Do not hesitate to read paragraph 3.c. above, contact us or consult the CNIL website (www.cnil.fr) if you have any questions.

If you wish, you can always delete your account in the application settings by clicking on the setting icon in your profile and proceeding to "Account and Confidentiality".
5. Changes to the Privacy policy
We may change this privacy policy at any time. In this case, we will inform you. Occasionally, we will notify you by changing the date at the beginning of this privacy policy (available on our site or in the app). Also, sometimes, and especially when there is a substantial change, we will provide you with a notice, such as a statement at the bottom of our website’s home page or a notification in the app.
